Beer Cures All
With all the controversy going on about one specific Super Bowl ad, it was nice to see a headline that reflects what I like about the Super Bowl; “Humor is back in Anheuser-Busch Super Bowl Ads.” Lets be real, the true reason for watching the Super Bowl is for the ads and a solid excuse to drink beer all day. We want to laugh and not cry during game breaks, especially if we’re already crying because “our” team hasn’t got to do one single touchdown dance.
As I read the first line, it reminded me of my sister’s cure for every ailment known to mankind – drink a beer. The sentence goes a little further than her suggestion, but I’m sure that she would agree with “An asteroid is about to hit the Earth? Drink some Bud Light. Your plane crashes on an island? Drink more Bud Light.” In fact, she may be updating her motto once she hears Anheuser-Busch’s Super Bowl ads.
The article lets us know that some companies will be “staying on the sidelines this year to recuperate from the down economy.” I can just hear her saying, “drink a beer, it will help the economy and it’ll speed up the recovery time.”
While Bud isn’t her favorite, she may be re-thinking it as they are coming out with a frosty bottle of Select 55. She currently drinks a rival brand with 64 calories and if she gets hold of a calculator, she may figure when she can get an extra bottle in, without going over her calorie count for the day.
This year Anheuser-Busch ads are going to focus on more fun and partying. What? Hasn’t drinking beer always been about fun and partying? My sister would think that the marketing whizs who came up with that idea must be a bunch of idiots who know nothing about beer.
Yes, I think my sister is going to like the Anheuser-Busch Super Bowl ads this year and she may even turn to me and say; “See, I told you beer was the answer to everything.”
